An Update

Where I Am Now

Adam Christopher Fox in the studio

Over the past few years, I spent a great deal of time writing and developing a body of work called Confluence. Somewhere along the way, I realized that finishing it meant continually returning to emotions, circumstances, and a version of myself that I no longer needed to inhabit.

So I made the decision to let it go.

I don't consider Confluence a failure or unfinished business. It served its purpose. Sometimes a piece of work is finished because you complete it. Other times, it's finished because it completed something in you. For me, this was the latter.

These days, I'm in a very different place, personally and creatively. I'm happy. I'm balanced. And more importantly, I'm curious again.

I've been spending a lot of time in the studio writing new material, but without a formula, a deadline, or any particular obligation to what I've done before. Guitar is still part of my voice, but it's becoming one color in a much larger palette. I'm exploring melody, atmosphere, rhythm, texture, space, sound design and whatever else happens to lead somewhere interesting.

For now, I'm simply creating, following the things that inspire me, and letting the music become what it wants to become.

It feels good to be here.

Over the years, efforts toward another full-length album. Good pieces, but sometimes as an artist, you leave work in the vault for another day. These demos are rough, but part of the process is showing the process.

"Music is a transformative experience. We experience these moments, from one to the next, constantly connected throughout our lives. Being able to express these things that have happened to us, for some, is the best kind of therapy that can be had."
